TiB's grounds in Berlin are familiar territory now and one could be forgiven for believing that Touchmünchen should have enjoyed a kind of home advantage against Strasbourg. These hopes were dashed very bluntly though as the French team delivered an impressive performance to beat us 3-5. In the next match against Modena we did much better winning 6-4 but the result could have gone either way. By the time we played against out third oponent, Berlin Rugby Club, we had found our rhythm and coasted to a comfortable 6-2 victory.

Naturally, the play-off games were much tougher. Guernsey were a very good team and despite a marvelous score by Jonno in the first half they proved to be the better team beating us 5-3. Cologne do not have the wealth of players they enjoyed in previous years and in the afternoon we were able to out-run them winning 6-3.

This meant our final game of the day would be a play-off for 5th place against the hosts of the tournament, Touch Berlin. In the first half Munich put in a great defensive effort. We did concede but once again Jonno stepped up and at half-time we were at level pegging. When Berlin started shifting gears in the second hald we were no longer able to keep them out and we ended up losing 6-2.

This was a solid performance to start the season but obviously we hope to do better in tournaments to come.
